Ponca City School Superintendent Shelley Arrott, will be discussing the possibility of a teacher walkout at tonights  Board of Education meeting. The board will consider a resolution encouraging the Oklahoma Legislature to fund reoccurring salary increases for teachers.

Arrott went on to say, that according to the OEA, the teachers will walk out on April 2 and will not return until their demands are met.   “If the teachers walkout, we will have to consider whether the walkout will debilitate the operations of the district. If it is determined there will not be enough staff to supervise and support our students, we will have to close schools.”

Arrott said that over the course of  next week, she will be involved with several tasks to develop a plan if the walkout does result in school closure.
