Ponca City Fire Department
627 E Hartford Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601

The Citizens Fire Academy will be held April 3-May 24 on Wednesday Nights from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

This course will allow people to experience first hand how emergencies are handled and how to use the equipment.

The Citizens Fire Academy is a free 10-week program that is open to those that are 18 years or older who live and/or work in Ponca City to get an overview of the Ponca City Fire Department. PCFD will also emphasize the role citizens play in prevention efforts as the firefighters and administrators teach the citizens at various locations including the fire station. There will also be optional field days held on Saturdays along with individually scheduled “ride-outs” on emergency apparatus.

Citizens should attend so they can learn services the Ponca City Fire Department provides, make your home and workplace safer and obtain information on making the community safer. Opportunities for graduates include community service and CFA Alumni. The CFA will even allow you to try out the “jaws of life” on a real vehicle. Other things citizens will get to do is hands-on fire extinguisher training, medical helicopter demonstration, learn CPR and First Aid, perform search and rescue in firefighter gear and learn home fire safety.

To apply, you can register online at https://www.poncacityok.gov/668/Citizens-Fire-Academy.  You can also mail in the application to the Ponca City Fire Department at 500 East Grand in Ponca City.
