Newkirk – Kay County Commissioners approved a motion on Monday that will pull $20,000 out of the use tax for a purchase of a new rescue boat.

Recently, Kay County Sheriff  Steve Kelley shared the idea of having rescue boats following the flooding in May, which can be read by clicking here. Boats and other equipment to help rescue people during the floods had to be called in from other agencies across the state.

Kelley plans on using part of the donated money towards training and life vests.
