OSU Foot ball coach Mike Gundy’s donation of $1,166.55 per day, will last the rest of the school year, will likely total more than $35,000.
The money will go toward paying for seven Payne County Sheriff’s deputies and school signage, which will alert parents, students and staff about the law enforcement presence.
“I have spent more time and more hours on security in Stillwater schools than I have on Oklahoma State football in the last three weeks,” Gundy, who has two sons in the district, said last week.
Stillwater Public Schools will have a uniformed and armed member of law enforcement in each of their 10 school sites the remainder of the school year.
Administrators identified additional school resource officers as a top need during a district meeting the day after Gundy addressed the board.
