NEWKIRK – Newkirk Public Library has recently launched its own bike program that allows members with a library card to check out bicycles.
Newkirk Public Library is the first in the state of Oklahoma to offer the BikeShare program. The rentals are free, including helmets and locks that are available. The bicycles were donated by Arkansas City Spoke N Things as part of the Newkirk Pathway Project.
The bike user must be the age of 12 to check out a bike, and those under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian complete the registration form.
The bikes are open when the Newkirk Library and must be returned by the time the library closes.
The only cost a person might ppay is if a bike, helmet or lock is lost or stolen, meaning whoever checked out the equipment is held responsible.
