BLACKWELL – One suspect is dead and an officer suffered minor injuries following a shootout that happened early Monday morning in Blackwell as confirmed by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

According to KOCO 5 in Oklahoma City and OSBI, Blackwell Police received a call at around 3 a.m. that shots were fired and a vehicle had been hit by the gunfire in the 1300 block of South Main Street in Blackwell.

After officers arrived, Blackwell Police said they received more calls about shots being fired from a white pickup truck at multiple locations in town.

According to the OSBI, officers found the truck and began chasing it. During the pursuit, officers exchanged gunfire with a person from the truck.

The suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop at 13th and Doolin Avenue. When officers approached the truck, they found a woman, 34-year-old Michael Ann Godsey, dead in the driver’s seat. She was the only person in the truck, according to OSBI officials.

Two officers were involved in the shooting. One officer suffered minor injuries, and authorities said both officers are on paid administrative leave. Their names have not been released.
