PONCA CITY – Ponca City High School will be hosting an ACT Prep Workshop presented by Chad Cargill on January 20, 2020. Chad travels to Oklahoma schools almost daily presenting his workshop to almost 10,000 students a year. He has taken the ACT 18 times bringing his score from a 19 to 32.
This workshop is packed full of relevant, practical information on how to increase your ACT score as he did. It shows that the ACT is beatable, and that each test will ask you the same questions just worded differently. The workshop covers what will be on the test and how to master the techniques. It covers general ideas about the ACT as a whole and the individual sections of English (including what the test-makers are looking for and the relevant English rules needed for the test), math (including exactly what formulas and rules you will need to answer virtually every question), reading (including three strategies on how to best take the reading comprehension section), and science (including common question types and strategies to understand and beat the science reasoning section).
This workshop is ideal for students who may be taking the ACT for the first time or those who have taken it and want to improve their score for college admission or scholarship opportunities. The cost is $30 and can be paid at the high school Business Office until Dec. 20, 2019. The district will need at least 30 students to sign up for Mr. Cargill to come. A location will be determined after the number of students has been established.
At this time, the workshop is open for juniors and seniors. If room is available, the district will open it up to sophomores. Mr. Cargill has also written an ACT Prep book that he will have available the day of the workshop for $20, if you are interested. Please call Mrs. Burch in the Guidance Office at 580-718-4815 with any questions.
