PONCA CITY – If you’ve grown up in Kay county, you probably know it’s the week of the Kay County Free Fair when rain appears in the forecast, and that could be the case for Thursday afternoon.
As of 9:40 a.m. Thursday morning, the National Weather Service in Norman has upgraded Kay county and most of northern Oklahoma/southern Kansas to a slight risk for severe weather later today. Scattered showers and storms should develop near a front in western/northwestern Oklahoma and western Kansas this afternoon going into the evening. Rain forecast for Ponca City begins at 1 p.m. with a 35% chance and growing to 85% between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m..
