Thursday night brought excitement to North Central Oklahoma as the Tonkawa Buccaneers defeated Christian Heritage Academy 21-6 at Stillwater High School to clinch the gold ball. As seen seen in the cover photo provided by Melissa Swords, the Bucs players show happiness as they’re bringing another state title to Tonkawa. Quarterback Braydon Hampton was unstoppable all night for Tonkawa as he rushed 42 times for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Defensive back Simeon Shepherd also scored after returning an interception 40 yards for another touchdown. The Buccaneers win their first state championship since 2009.
