Halloween pursuit leads to arrest of Tonkawa woman

OHP Troopers and Kay County deputies found themselves involved with a high speed pursuit that took place in the morning hours of Oct. 31 in the northwestern section of Kay County.

Kristin Nicole Kelly, 36, of Tonkawa was sent to the Blackwell Regional Hospital before being transported to the Kay County Jail in Newkirk after leading the pursuit for nearly 30 minutes. The pursuit began just after 8 a.m. as Kelly was driving westbound on Brake Road near 108th Street between Blackwell and Nardin. Kelly led the chase on various backroads in the area and even reached speeds of 65 mph at one point. The chase later made its way eastward where Kelly drove into a bean field near 44th Street and Dry Road between Blackwell and Braman. According to Wooderson Farms on Facebook, Kelly even performed donuts in the field. No serious injuries were reported.

Kelly is scheduled for an initial court appearance in the Kay County District Court in Newkirk on Friday, Nov. 8. Bond is currently set at $25,000.
