Ponca City – From Phillips 66,
At approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday, a unit upset occurred at the Phillips 66 Ponca City Refinery located at 1000 South Pine Street on the south side of Ponca City, which resulted in a brief release of catalyst which is used in the refining process.
After the release, seven individuals from the community sought medical attention at a local emergency room and have since been released.
The emergency response team immediately responded to the incident. No external readings have been detected by monitoring equipment at the Phillips 66 fenceline or adjacent community.
Phillips 66 said the safety of Ponca City, the environment and the people are of the utmost importance to the company, and these priorities will guide efforts as Phillips 66 investigate the cause of this incident.
