Sports on 1230 AM WBBZ had some good news and some bad news yesterday. First the Bad news. The Oklahoma State Cowboys will not be going to the Big 12 semifinals after losing to top ranked Kansas yesterday in a game you heard on WBBZ. Kansas advances to play K State who beat TCU in overtime. Oklahoma State threatened to run the Jayhawks out of the building early on, just as it did in an 82-64 rout in Stillwater Saturday.
But after OSU obtained a 10 point lead early, the Jayhawks caught fire. The final score 82-68.
And the good news, in a game you heard last night on WBBZ, with the help of the new guy, Corey Brewer and the always dependable Russell Westbrook, the Thunder routed the Phoenix Suns 115-87 at home. Coach Donavan replaced Josh Huestis with Brewer as a starter for the Thursday night game because, as Donavan said, He’s highly competitive and plays with an unbelievable motor. He is in constant motion all the time. And, along with Westbrook, it was the spark the Thunder needed. Just ask Phoenix.
The Thunder plays Saturday night against a team they beat in December by only a 3 point shot, the San Antonio Spurs. Hear all the Thunder excitement on 1230 AM WBBZ with tip off at 7:30.
