President Joe Biden expressed his views during a fundraising event in Connecticut, stating that Donald Trump is actively undermining the U.S. justice system. Biden believes that Trump’s motive behind these attacks is to manipulate public perception and create the notion that the system is rigged, particularly since he is the first American president to face criminal conviction.
On Friday, a New York jury convicted Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, on 34 counts of falsifying business records. The records were falsified to hide hush money payments made to an adult film actress, aimed at concealing their alleged affair from the voting public.
Throughout the trial, the former president vehemently criticized the judge and prosecution, attempting to shift the blame onto Biden. Even after being convicted, Trump persistently maintained his innocence, denouncing the verdict as a “disgrace” and labeling the trial as “rigged.”
During a fundraising event in Greenwich, Conn., on Monday night, Biden addressed the crowd and expressed his view on the current state of the election campaign. He highlighted that the situation was unprecedented, stating that “for the first time in American history, a former president who is a convicted felon is now seeking the office of the presidency.” Biden emphasized the significance of this unique circumstance, emphasizing the uncharted territory the campaign has entered.
“He stated that Donald Trump is not only disturbing but also launching a full-scale attack on the American system of justice. He emphasized that the former president wants the American public to believe in this assault as well.”
“He stated that it is both reckless and dangerous for anyone to claim that the situation is rigged.”
According to Biden, something within Trump “snapped” after he lost the 2020 election, and it is now causing him to go “literally crazy.”
“Listen to his rantings,” Biden exclaimed, drawing attention to Trump’s inflammatory remarks. He specifically mentioned Trump’s statement during a town hall in Iowa, where the former president declared that he would not act like a dictator, “except for Day One,” when it came to addressing border issues and advocating for increased drilling.
During an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Trump was asked if he would misuse his power for retribution if he were to be re-elected.
“What sort of man is he?” inquired Biden.
During the fundraiser, Biden delivered a speech that lasted approximately 20 minutes. In his address, he highlighted the achievements of his administration, specifically mentioning the implementation of a $35 cap on insulin for seniors. Furthermore, he expressed his intention to extend this benefit to all Americans if he is re-elected for a second term.
In his speech, Biden directed the spotlight towards Trump, highlighting what he perceives as the former president’s threats to democracy. Biden positioned himself as the safeguard of American principles, emphasizing his commitment to upholding them.
In addition, he accused Trump of being responsible for the repeal of federal abortion protections. He claimed that the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs Wade in June 2022 was a direct result of Trump’s influence. Furthermore, he pledged to reinstate these protections if elected.
Biden criticized Trump for reportedly referring to American soldiers who died in war as “losers and suckers.”
“I’m not running, but this guy definitely does not deserve to be president,” Biden said confidently.
