According to a report, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed that doctors determined a dark spot on his brain scans was caused by a dead worm. During a deposition in 2012, Kennedy explained that initially, clinicians suspected he had a tumor. However, he later received a call from a doctor at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital suggesting that he had a deceased parasite in his brain. Kennedy stated that the doctor believed the spot on the scan “was caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died.” He had sought the advice of neurologists following memory loss and mental fogginess. The New York Times reported that Kennedy has since recovered and is not experiencing any other lingering effects from the parasite. While he is uncertain about the type of parasite or its origin, Kennedy speculates that he may have contracted it during a trip to South Asia.
