The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a 25 year old Blackwell man was killed just after noon on Saturday in a one vehicle accident on southbound I35 near the 167 mile marker, approximately 10 miles north of Guthrie in Payne County.
The report states that Austin Alexander was a passenger in a 2008 Chevrolet truck driven by 35 year old Joy D. Mora of Blackwell when the accident occurred. Mora was traveling southbound when she swerved left and departed the roadway, striking the guardrail and cable barrier. The truck rolled one time, ejecting Alexander, before landing on its wheels in the northbound lane. Mora was pinned for approximately 15 minutes before being freed by the Guthrie Fire Department. She was transported, in critical condition, by AirEvac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was admitted with head and trunk internal injuries.
Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say that seatbelts were not in use and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
